We love living in this gem of a village and for us, the skiing here is second to none. If you haven’t already been, then here are 3 Reasons to visit Les Gets:
- One of the 14 resorts making up the Portes Du Soleil, it’s the largest ski area in Europe
- Relaxed & friendly traditional alpine village
- Only 1 hour transfer from Geneva airport
Les Gets is a charming and authentic alpine village, is part of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area which is the largest ski area in Europe. Les Gets village is based at 1172m, high up in the French Alps.
The traditional dairy farming village is a community that dates back to the 12th century. It is now a pleasing mix of old Savoyard chalets and more modern wooden-and-stone buildings constructed in keeping with their beautiful alpine surroundings, with all the facilities you would expect of a modern ski resort whilst still retaining the charm of an 800 year old alpine community. It has a relaxed atmosphere, warm and friendly, in keeping with its traditional Savoyard roots.
There is plenty going on in this little French ski resort. The winter is packed with a host of events each week from ‘ski colour’ to the Grand Odyssey dog sled race, so there is a lot to keep you entertained off the slopes.
Even Father Christmas can’t resist our lovely village – ‘Pere Noel’ lives here every year at Christmas and New year and you can visit him and his elves in their enchanted forest!
